Cargo by Rail
Our RailEco Onboard Courier service is aimed at those wishing to transport cargo to hard to reach parts of the UK and Europe. There are occasions it may also be faster than our AIRapid Onboard Courier Service. It is also suitable for environmentally conscious organisations looking to lower carbon emissions that would otherwise be much higher with air and road cargo transport.
SHIPPING BY PLANE
Our couriers collect your cargo and deliver it to it’s destination wherever in UK and Europe it’s required in the shortest possible lead time. Whilst we are based in the United Kingdom, we can position to any UK and European Railway Station in a matter of hours. Our couriers typically use Interrail passes as this allows them to transit Europe by almost any train. We always have a “Plan B” in case of disruption to the railway schedule. This is operated as a true door to door service and we manage the whole operation from collection, transit, customs declarations (if leaving or arriving in the UK) and first and last mile delivery.
From City Lights to Northern Lights. In 2023 one of our couriers embarked on a major delivery service departing London destined for Luleå in Northern Sweden. This was a highly complex operation as the courier needed to traverse several countries including France, Belgium, Germany and Denmark in order to reach Sweden. All while updating the client in real time on the status of the cargo delivery. This was a true long distance delivery covering more than 1,700 miles which demonstrates just how far and wide this service can reach.
Our couriers are experts in the field. You will receive timely updates on the status of your cargo. Whether that’s the OBC arriving at the pickup location to departure of the first train in the schedule. All our couriers are equipped with Apple AirTags to enable tracking of the cargo. This makes sure your precious cargo can always be located in the unlikely event it is mishandled.
RailEco can range anywhere from minutes to multiple days. This is dependent on several factors. Including:
For instance a job departing at lunch time from Bristol to Central London could be achieved in under 2 hours on a direct GWR service.
However, a job from Edinburgh to Sofia BG with collection at 17:00 would require several long distance trains including overnight sleeper trains to reach Sofia. Such a service would be estimated in days. A full breakdown and itinerary would be provided beforehand for your consideration. The courier will also make regular updates to you throughout the journey and supply GPS tracking on request. On overnight sleeper trains the courier will be booked as the sole occupant of a sleeper berth. As these can be locked from the inside by the courier, it ensures the cargo will be kept secure overnight.
